I am a specialist in several web and creative disciplines with an entrepreneurial mindset, a deep sense of responsibility, and extensive experience working as a solo operator as well as part of a team.

I work remotely in various scenarios: as a solo contributor, as part of a team, and leading a distributed team. My autonomous and transparent work style includes:
- meticulous time tracking
- clear, comprehensive briefings
- documentation of decisions and processes
- a warm, approachable, but goal-oriented collaboration style
- experienced in timezone-aware and asynchronous communication
- registered as a freelancer (autónomo) in Spain allowing for long term cross-border work relationships as well as individual projects
- used to agency and "white label" work
Work philosophy
Modern audiences expect ultra-fast, frictionless experiences, both online and offline. Make your point within the blink of an eye - or you might not get a second chance.
That's why building things that are fast, fun, easy to understand, and engaging to use has become my #1 priority in design, marketing and technology - safely, within a budget, with a solid architecture, while avoiding silos and unnecessary dependencies as much as possible.
I hugely enjoy using AI in software development, planning, and strategy - tools like Conductor that allow having multiple agents and models work on separate Git worktrees in a code base, with total human control over the output, have fundamentally transformed the way I work.
Off-grid Canary Islands office
I work from an off-grid finca near Arrieta (Lanzarote) where I enjoy
- a dedicated office and meeting room
- encrypted data on work machines and backups
- daily backups on site and in the cloud
- plenty of Internet connectivity
- flight connections to many European cities
Fluent in several languages & cultures
I speak and write native German and Finnish, English at near native level, and Spanish. Through extended stays and deep connections to Britain and the US, as well as a 4-year program in Interdisciplinary American Studies, I have developed great fluency in the English-speaking world and many of its cultures and discourses. I've written:
- Hundreds of thousands of words of copy in German and English
- 7,000 programming answers on Stack Overflow
- Community discourse and feature requests on Meta Stack Overflow
Online presence
I am known for friendly, constructive, thoroughly researched contributions in various online communities:
- In the Autónom@s & self-employed in Spain and Remote Work Spain groups
- In local resident groups for Lanzarote (English, German), for Germans in Spain
- Long-time global top #10 user with 6,900 answers on Stack Overflow
- On Meta Stack Overflow, helping shape community culture, some of which I have documented in the "volunteering" section on my LinkedIn profile
- Previously on PHP-Resource, one of the largest German-language PHP forums
Personal background
I was born in Finland in 1980 and grew up in Germany. I moved to the Canary Islands in 2014, embarking on an adventure of a lifetime that continues to this day, slowly renovating an old off-the-grid house, enjoying a wonderful, tight-knit tiny community, and working remotely for clients around the world.
Growing up in the middle of a southern German family startup has taught me getting things done, flexibility, a deep sense of responsibility, and an aversion towards wasting time or resources.
I am a nature lover. My passions are drawing, illustrating comics, painting, and writing texts and stories.
On my large finca, I spend much of my time working on various construction projects, and small first steps at seriously growing food.
I love to see thriving self-employment and entrepreneurship. This is why I am working on Autonomotools and giving advice in several freelance communities.
